The China Toothbrush Museum officially opened on May 6, 2011, in Yangzhou Hangji Town regarded as the “China Capital of Toothbrush”. The toothbrush museum is dedicated to inheriting and protecting the distinctive traditional toothbrush production technology and the modern toothbrush production process.
The exhibition hall covers an area of about 1000 square meters and contains over 40 pieces of historical relics. There are 5 parts in the exhibition hall, which introduce the history and development of toothbrush at home and abroad. It also shows the thousand-year evolution of China toothbrush and the century-long history of Hangji toothbrush. The Oldest Toothbrush The oldest toothbrush in the museum is from Tang Dynasty. The toothbrush handle of the unearthed historical relic is still well protected except the losing bristles. It is said that the toothbrush handle was mainly made of ox bone in the ancient times. 22 to 66 holes will be drilled into the bone to put pig bristle. The last process is drying and disinfecting the toothbrush with sulfur. Toothbrush Factory The Biggest Toothbrush The biggest toothbrush is 2.008meters long. It weighs 200 kilograms and has 46 holes. The biggest toothbrush is made of pure natural crystal by Yangzhou toothbrush artist. It’s also said to be the world’s largest toothbrush by far. The Most Beautiful Toothbrush The Ming Dynasty was the most artist time in China’s history and it is also reflected in the toothbrush product. Several toothbrushes from Ming Dynasty in the museum all have perfect artistic shapes. For example, the tail of one toothbrush is in the shape of cicada. Another toothbrush is made into a fish shape, which looks beautiful. Best Teeth Whitening The Most Meaningful Toothbrush In the museum, there is a type of meaningful toothbrush whose handle is engraved with the words “protect our homes and defend our country”. It is said that the toothbrush was specially designed for Chinese people’s volunteers who participated in the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea.
